DAYCARE CENTER DEFINED: Child Care Center shall mean any day child care, nursery, nursery school, foster home, or preschool or any place, home or institution located in any residential of commercial district which receives eight (8) or more children under the age of eighteen (18) years, and operates for six or more hours of the twenty-four (24) hour day, and not of common parentage, or foster care apart from their natural parents, legal guardians or custodians. This does not include facilities for which the primary purpose is medical treatment, Vacation Bible Schools whose duration is not greater than two weeks or Mother's Day Out programs conducted by churches or other religious institutions in which care for children is conducted within the institutional building.
LICENSE: Any person engaging in operating a day or child care center as defined above must secure proper licenses from the State of Oklahoma, Oklahoma County and from the City of The Village.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The center may be located in a single family residential district in a home which is the permanent residence of the operator. Operation of the center may not change the character of the residence.
- Child Care Centers shall not be located in any dwelling that is located on a lot having less than seven thousand two hundred (7,200) square feet of area.
